Giovanni’s RoomJames Baldwin’s classic narrative, explores the hidden life of David, an American expatriate in Paris. When David meets an Italian bartender, Giovanni, he begins to question and feel frustrations about his relationships with the men in his life. 

 

Set among the bohemian bars and nightclubs of 1950’s Paris, Giovanni’s Room delves into the mystery of loving and creates a deeply moving story of death and passion that reveals the unspoken complexities of the human heart. 

 

Matthew Sackel, Associate Manager of Education at Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center, will moderate the discussion.
