Recognized by Yad Vashem as one of the Righteous Among the Nations, Japanese Diplomat Chiune Sugihara risked his life and career to issue over 2,100 visas to help Jews flee war-torn Europe in 1940. Today, thousands are alive thanks to his courageous actions.

In honor of Chiune Sugihara’s bravery and lasting impact, join us for an evening at the Museum with Leo Melamed, whose family received a visa from Sugihara, in conversation with Akinori Nishikawa, Director of Port of Humanity Tsuruga Museum. Jun Yanagi, Consul-General of Japan in Chicago, will give opening remarks.

A cocktail networking reception will begin at 5:30 pm. The program will begin at 6:30 pm.
