Propaganda, Power, and Persuasion:  Creating, Defining, and Targeting “The Enemy” Through History to Today
Thursday, December 5, 2019, 6:30 – 8:00pm

Propaganda came of age in the 20th century, and in the 1930s, it was used by Nazis to shape the beliefs and attitudes of the German public. Today, extremist speech continues to spark violence. David Welch, Director of the Centre for the Study of Propaganda and War at the University of Kent (England), will speak to the power and perils of propaganda throughout history, and the reasons why combating it today is so critical.
