10:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

While much focus is rightfully given to the experiences of those persecuted under the Nazi regime, what was life for those who weren’t? What can we learn from the experiences of those who were part of Nazi Germany’s “national community” – those who fit into the Nazi racial, ethnic, social, and behavioral ideal? This session will focus on primary source objects – including film, photos, artifacts, and documents – to explore select aspects of everyday life for Germans in the majority culture under Nazism. Through learning more about German life, volunteers are able to consider some of the ways Germans benefited under Nazism, what Germans knew about Nazi persecution and atrocities, and what lessons can be applied to our lives today.

This session will be at Am Shalom synagogue at 840 Vernon Ave., Glencoe, IL 60022, and will begin at 10 a.m. and will go through 12 p.m. Kosher refreshments will be provided.
